Just a quick update to our customers regarding the current situation for inflatables in the current COVID-19 pandemic.
Firstly, we hope that everyone is safe and well. We're on day 29 of 'Lockdown' today I think? With a UK Government review set to take place on or around May 8th 2020.
We've taken the time off recently to spend time at home with our families and get our DIY jobs complete. The one positive I can give from this quiet period is the extra time we can spend as a family. We've also rotated our stock with some stock leaving our range and orders being made for BRAND NEW STOCK which will arrive as soon as the current 'Lockdown' conditions are relaxed / lifted.
We feel as a company it will be the ideal time to add new products to our range which customers can see being taken out of their delivery bags for peace of mind that these products have not been used or hired during this critical stage of the pandemic and there can be no question that the products could be harbouring any bacteria or virus.
We took the decision back on the 22nd of March 2020 to postpone all of our upcoming bookings and this was a decision taken using advice from the UK Government, trading standards, HSE and industry bodies. Since this date, there has been some conflicting information provided by some sources which some companies have used to justify the continuance of their hire services. The replies we have had from the relevant bodies i.e. HSE, trading standards etc have unanimously stated that we should not provide hire products until the 'Lockdown' conditions have been lifted or relaxed.
There's many reasons we felt this was the right decision to take including;
- The hiring of bouncy castles and the like to households could encourage social gatherings as neighbours or family may join in the fun.
- The hiring of bouncy castles and the like involves transportation to households etc and non-essential travel is currently restricted.
- By not hiring bouncy castles and the like, we are reducing the chance of any accidents therefore helping the NHS to focus on more pressing matters.
We have received many telephone enquiries during this 'Lockdown' period with many stating that there is one or more inflatables on their own particular street which have been hired by other companies. Some telephone enquiries have unfortunately been quite rude and even threatening when we said that at present we were closed due to the current circumstances. We must re-iterate that our current stance is taken based on the guidance of governing bodies within the industry and at Government level.
Hopefully, when the next review takes place, the restrictions may be lifted or at least relaxed in a way that allows us to restart our hire services and we will be updating our customers once this information is available. The easiest and most convenient way to book one of our hire products is to use our website (https://www.sjleisure.co.uk). So if you are looking to book a bouncy castle hire in Warrington or a gladiator duel in Wigan or even an inflatable slide in Ormskirk, this is the best way to book. Currently our website will not accept any bookings for dates earlier than 8/5/2020. For customers looking to book products for dates later than 8/5/2020, we encourage them to book online as early as possible to avoid disappointment. If your booking is affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, don't worry, your booking fee payment will be secured and able for you to use within 12 months of your original hire date i.e. if you made a booking for 12/6/2020 and the booking had to be postponed due to the pandemic, your booking fee payment would be valid to use until 12/6/2021. You can use your booking fee payment to re-arrange your original booking or make a totally new booking with new products, new delivery address etc.
As a company, we are excited to restart our hire services and see our fantastic customers that we see each and every year. We'll be trading bigger and better than ever after this pandemic and have some awesome plans in place for new products that we know our customers will love!
